Sportives and Audax's

Last couple of runs out, the subject of sportives/audax's came up.  It appears the a few club members are keen for a club entry to one of the local events.  Ken H, John S and myself would certainly like to partake.

This is one that was mentioned today:-

A full list can be found at :-

It would be great if we could get a team together.. Especially if the new club strip had arrived.

I’m afraid I won’t be able to ride with you on that one as I have entered to 200km on the same day http://www.beaconrcc.org.uk/audax/cotswold/cotswold_expedition.html

Anyone fancy riding that one gently?

There is also a link to the Audax web site on our links page.

Some enthusiasm for the Beacon Audax 23rd June. Having looked at the diary I find that I am going out early evening that day, so go ahead without me on that one.

Chris P likes the look of the Malvern Mad Hatter, 1st September and I am OK for that.

Just had this one sent me.  Kev ,Mike, Tony L and I have both ridden it before.

HEADS UP for everyone that has entered a past MacRide cycle event.

We have a finite number of entries that we can take for the cycle events we run on the second Sunday in September.

Following a glowing report in Cycling Weekly for our last event we've already seen a massive inflow of entries for Sunday 8 September 2013 ... so don't miss your chance of a place.

We expect to sell out before the day - especially the longer distances - online entry is open now at  www.macride-events.org.uk  for all of the events.

image-120w-13.jpgIf you've ridden the longer MacRide before, why not step up a gear and enter the Shakespeare AUTUMN 100Km ride for a bit more of a challenge? - we've changed all the routes for this year . . . .  and our MacRide Events jerseys are selling fast too (over 80% of this year's order has already gone) - you can order with your entry

I have heard tell that the Silk Run 100km audax, starting and finishing in Tewkesbury is one of the best around.

I will be riding this at an easy pace with my daughter's boyfriend (his first ever audax)

If anyone fancies joining us that would be nice

Yep, its great Audax, I've ridden it for the last half a dozen years but it clashes with the Weston run this year.  :(

There is only one climb all day and thats Stanway, which in truth isnt that bad really.  But after you turn left at the top and head towards the control at Snowshill, thats a bit of slog.

  • 2 weeks later...

Rode my first Audax today, (The Warwickshire Wanderer) good fun on a good day on some lovely lanes.

Were there a lot of starters Colin?

I ask because I rode the 160km event and must have rode through thirty or so stragglers at the end.

You sly dog Colin! Getting the miles in - wondered where you were today.   ;)

Going to have a go at one of these audaxy things. Cant do the Beacon in June but have penciled in the one Sean posted 14th July.

You may also care to consider the Shropshire Highland Challenge on the 16th June - HERE  I have ridden this event for the last 8 years and every year Danny Mason the organiser finds more hills!!!

Trust me, it is one of the "THE" best events that you will ride and with the amount of free food on offer, you usually end up heavier than when you started.
