LVRC Road Race.

Recommended Posts

Entered my first road race of the season Sunday 31st March,( OMLOOP VAN DER DRIE DORPEN ) its only 30mls but boy it looks tough. based around the Rugby area partly on unmade surfaces. A bit like the roads we are having to suffer locally in Worcestershire area due to lack of maintenance by the council.

OMLOOP VAN DER DRIE DORPEN

Anybody out there with fond memories of the Blenheim Palace Circuit races and Johnny Morris’s Edgware 2-Day cyclo cross event road stages of the mid 60’s?.
There’s not much like it today so Team Jewson and L.V.R.C. Region 7 have decided to promote a Paris – Roubaix style road race run on laps of both B roads and unclassified County roads centred on the Warwickshire village of Flecknoe. The race will be run off in individual age groups approx. 1 minute apart with each group riding laps consisting of a combination of Sectors 1, 2 & 3 and B roads with an additional final road section finishing just outside Flecknoe village.

It is proposed to run this unique event on Sunday 31st March 2013

Sector 3

You will see that Sectors 2 & 3 are mainly “3 ply” having a compacted granite stone surface which is used daily by the locals, sector 1 has been resurfaced this year with tarmac. This lap has been ridden several times using a carbon framed road bike with normal race tyres without problems but if it is wet on the day then we suggest using heavier and larger section tyres.
