TonyS
It might be useful if the rest of us knew where to avoid - or at least be careful. Grid reference please, anyone?

Mrs DAVIES
Is there a way to communicate this to other Cycling clubs?

Mick Hazlewood
Spoke to a Solihull CC member this evening and they have already encountered the same trench but without any damage being done to either rider or bike.
TonyS
Does that mean they're going slower, or they're better bike handlers?
Mick Hazlewood
Tony, apparently very shaken but not stirred, a lucky escape by all accounts and I suspect they were traveling at a very steady pace at the time.
TonyS
Don't know if Sunday's event goes that way, if it does then I hope full warning will be given at the start.
Dave Cox
I've posted details on the Beacon website. Other riders were storming through as we milled around and tried to help Pete and Colin. You could hear them cross the trench but without any consequences. Dave Cox
I talked to Mike Reilly (designer of the Enigma range and now of his own Nerve bikes) at the Cycle Show and picked up his latest creation a carbon sub-UCI beauty. I do wonder whether really light bikes like the Scott Foil are more vulnerable on such roads. We saw far worst holes on that ride but this one is right across the road and deceptive. It is also where riders pick up speed although they are entering a residential area. But on Tuesday I didn't think we were going particularly fast. Sean Barker
I thought the pace was sensible and appropriate for the location. I did notice on closer inspection on that trench that there was a section that was deeper than the rest of it. I rather suspect Pete was unfortunate enough to hit that spot. divad
SUCCESS!!!!! Just cycled across the trench and it's been repaired. It's now almost level and a better than average repair, obviously with time there may be some irregular subsidence but at the moment it looks good. stumpy
I was talking to one of the local Lib Dems for solihull yesterday who are quite pro active and told them of the hazard and how it had resulted in two of our fellow riders ending up at hospital, maybe it helped. Glad to see a better repair has been carried out. Colin B.
