Mick Hazlewood
While Dave M was sat in his car on the M6 in a traffic jam I was on my way through Horrendous storms going up to my event in Derbyshire. Not seen rain or roads like it for a long time but continued my journey to the HQ but thinking that the event could be cancelled. 1.45pm and the rain became much lighter and the event was on, first man off 2.00pm. A lot of riders had DNS'ed, in fact about 60 which was half the field. Things improved as the afternoon went on and when I started it was very light rain and and damp roads which made the islands a bit treacherous and with a cross wind on the course I was extremely happy to finish with a year PB of. 57.03 which is my second Fastest ever 25 time. Just gutted it was not 14 seconds faster as this would have been a new vets club record. Oh well, perhaps next time.
