Sean Barker
I sold my Dawes Ultra Galaxy touring bike today. Even though I know my touring days are over I still felt sad to see it go. Although I am happy that it is now with a worthy recipient who will use it as it should be used.
Leigh
Sean , very interesting considering your theological views that you now subscribe to a view that we have souls !!! Still I know what you mean ... so sad.
Sean Barker
I thought someone might pick up on that I'm theologically atheist but culturally Christian I suppose it's no surprise that its such a wrench letting it go. Over the six years between 2006 to 2012 I spent a combined time of over a year on the road throughout Europe
Mrs DAVIES
When you think of letting them go, you think of the miles they have carried you safely, the costs they saved you and the joy they have given you. I can never do it, I just repair them. We now have a one in one out policy. Can't choose which one goes out. Seems to be the older the bike the more I ride it. If you were buying a touring bike now, what would you buy?
Mrs DAVIES
Do bikes have souls?
Sean Barker
If you were buying a touring bike now, what would you buy? If it was to do the expedition type touring I have done in the past then I wouldn’t entertain the thoughts of anything other than a steel frame, 26 inch wheels, roholf gearing, comfort bars and a top end dynamo hub to collect enough energy to keep my electrical gear powered. I would want all those specs built on either a Koga Randonneur or a Thorn Nomad
