Sean Barker
Despite feeling a little under the weather with a cold I cycled this 2012km Audax yesterday. It started from the car park opposite the train station in Lichfield and the first section took us to Stonehurst Farm, Mountsorrell for a café stop. Then it was on passing Belvoir castle and on to the second control point at Gonerby Services near Kegworth. The third section took us through the Vale of Belvoir and on to Donnington Services for a coffee stop, then it was the final 50km push to the finish in Lichfield. I wasn’t up to my normal strength, the cold had sapped so much of my stamina and I did tire somewhat on the second half but the strong headwind that we had to fight our way through on the way out there pushed us home and I was actually over an hour quicker on the return leg. It snowed on us for most of the day and the fields in many sections were completely covered, although the roads were clear and safe. All in all an enjoyable days cycling.
