DaveM
Free Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening An abdominal aneurysm can occur if the wall of your aorta - the main blood vessel that supplies blood to your body - gets weak and starts to expand. The condition can be serious. Screening can help to find an aneurysm early so that it can be monitored. The screening consists of a simple, pain-free ultrasound scan of your abdomen to look for an aneurysm. You get your results straight away. The details of the scheme in your area can be found at http://aaa.screening.nhs.uk/whereyoulive. I contacted the scheme by phone and was given an appointment at Bromsgrove within five days. I know several members of the club have already taken up the free screening. It could be a life saver. Lancashire Lad
Bill Oakley died as a result of a burst Abdominal Aorta Aneurism, it is known as the silent killer. The only way to find the weakness is screening., should be recommended by your GP for all men over 65 but often they don't,. drain on there budget. I arranged it myself as a result of Bill's demise and I would recommend that all male club members over 65 should have it done, apparently it's not offered to women as their risk is considered very low. Glad to hear you have had the screening and hope you received the all clear. I'm not a medical man, but I researched Bills situation ,hence I had the screening by going direct to the NHS. IF YOU HAVN'T DONE IT DO IT
