Club Run - Sunday 20th October

Sean Barker

Recommended Posts

This Sunday’s club run will be to Cob House Fisheries.

Dave Mitchell will be leading a steady run to Cob House Fisheries.

I'll be at the Man in the Moon car park for a 9:15 departure. We will them make our way to Tardebigge ( approx. 9:40) for a second pick up point, then it's off to Droitwich to rendezvous with Dave, then on to Cob House Fisheries.

OK. Sean will bring down guys from Tardibigge (approx 09.40) to Primsland (approx. 10.10), then we go via lanes to Copcut, Ladywood to Ombersley. Cross river at Holt fleet then back into lanes to Ockeridge, Wichenford and Cobb House.  Return via Lower Broadheath then pick up Sustrans route 46 that goes down river to Worcs., across foot bridge then up between race course and river, through to Claines, Lower Town, Ladywood, Copcut and back to Primsland.

I think 'A's will probably go via  Cutnall Green and Doverdale.

Weather permitting.

PS. Anyone wanting a shorter ride is welcome to park and ride from my house. Depart 10.00.

So who's meeting at the Forrest at 9.30 for the Cob House.

I suppose I could ride over with Sean and show him some compassion as I did on Tuesday last week.

If you’re going to show me that sort of compassion again at least have the decency to carry a portable defibulator with you

Barry, my intention was to meet up at Tardebigge but I got there early (must have just missed you) and, rather than stand around in the damp, I carried on in the hope that the run would catch me up. Like you, I didn't know the cafe location exactly, and auto pilot took over. By the time I'd got half-way down Flying Horse Lane I thought I'd better turn round! When I saw you I assumed either the run was well in front of both of us, or more likely it had gone a different way. Anyway, it looked like rain was threatening over Worcester way so I decided to get home dry and clean my bike thoroughly!

Anyhow, I was glad to see at least two turn up for me to lead and we had a leisurely ride to the cafe.  A little later than planned so the 'A's were already wined and dined arrived.  Not wanting to hold them up, or get a pasting on the way back, we let them go. Not a drop of rain fell on the way back to Droitwich so we got away with a lovely sunny run.

Things you don't normally see on a club run:-

1. A policeman parked up in a patrol car down a lane reading a cycling magazine.

2. Dragon Boats in all their splendour racing down the river.

3. Sean talking to a Reindeer at the cafe.

Out today, the 'A's were Mike H, Chris P, Ken H and Chris Poole. The 'B's Sean, Owen H and myself.

Phil C was intending to join the 'A's but had a wardrobe malfunction and had to abandon.  79xc.gif

Sean should take a rest I think he's suffering with an overdose of miles.

Or take up swimming as he spends so much time in the rain.

Great ride through the lanes on the way out avoiding the wind.

In time at the stop for Mick to have an all day breakfast.

Pity Ken went for the more expensive tea cake not following Micks example.

Set sail for the return journey flew back via Worcester, Droitwich and up the lanes to Bournheath

taking Mick home as usual.

Got back home without a drop of rain in sight.

Phil should have picked up some spare shoes and a crash helmet at Saturdays jumble.

You do have a point.

Over 200 miles when you add yesterday’s ride and today's. I was certainly tired but a nice recovery ride was what I needed so a big thank you to Dave and Owen for nursing me around today.

Thanks for escorting me home Chris and noticed you didn't stop to tell Ed why I was covered

in so much cr-p from your back wheel!!, still just glad half my cycling kit was out of Owens

wardrobe,  good move that.

Still can't understand why Chris has to take us down all these muddy lanes and then ride through all the

big dirty puddles?.

My fault I should have been on the front, but then I get told off for half wheeling and upping the pace,

As if I Would!!.

Hope Ken got back okay, lost him up a hill somewhere in Dodford.  I did tell Chris but his answer was attack.

Great ride as always and good company.

Phil Carbutt  was last reported to be seen riding around Wythall with no cycling shoes or crash helmet on, and

his only 60. Must be all that sea air the last 2 odd years.
