  1. H was the Rock Tavern which was also known as the Portelet.

Her husband who was English & always serving behind the bar on my many, many visits often with Peter Carbutt, was unfortunately an Alcoholic!

He & the premises went into a nosedive of a decline! She left returning to the States with their child.

    Happy & sad memories indeedπŸ€”

The location is Caunsall as correctly identified by Moira but it’s definitely NOT the Anchor which still is just down the road!

They’re both on right hand side of the road going in the direction of Cookley.

The Anchor being just before Kinver Lane & the Rock/Portelet located Just after on the little rise!Β

  2. It became apparent from the outset that a number of us were not on for the full route!

We caught Tony up on Church Lane, Bradley Green who was on a solo non-stopper & turned left at the Pinvin traffic lights.

I believe that Chris Thompson was also going toΒ do his own thing but with a stop at PershoreΒ as he went left with the Mr Shelley group turning off left before the Pershore traffic-lights!

We that is Barry, Leigh, Mike, Gordon and myself Β pressed on to Defford where good food, brilliant sunshine & tea together with the occasional sprinkling by a water-cannon was enjoyed on the patio.

An incident-free great day out in good company!

What more could one wish for on a September run in early Autumn!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸš²πŸš²πŸ™πŸ™πŸ‘

  3. Yes well I’m currently @ Leigh’s recovering from a difficult, enjoyable & testing 70.78mls ride

Some memorable roads & lanes that owing to advancing years, senility & possibly shrinking numbers (which on a more serious note is concerning) we rarely get to ride on particularly in such blissful conditions!

Thanks to John for his imagination & leadership + Moira, Barry, Alan & Chris for great company on another SARACEN memorable day out!

    EXCELLENT VENUE.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

MOIRA legendary over such testing terrain with more pluck and BxxxS than many of the male gender however I can’t help but thinking that she ought to be doing more SERIOUS GARDENING!πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸ€”πŸΆπŸΆ

  4. Very well done Moira & John for keeping the club’s metaphorical β€œend up”whilst us slackers languished in us pits till an ungodly hour bereft of enthusiasm & positivity.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸš²πŸš²πŸ‘

Further to the above:- Also well done Ivor, Tony, Christine & Mr P πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸš²πŸš²πŸΆπŸΆ

  5. Coming back Hill Furze Road after the top of Fladbury Hill and where it passes the Vale Golf & Country Club was bloody awful & virtually unrideable on the left hand side which they were doing!!!!!

I cannot remember ever getting so many chippings wedged under the fork-crown & rear brake-bridge + tar all around the circumference of both tyres 😩😩😩😑😑😑

  6. Many thanks for Chris’s kindness & efforts in pushing Jack for which he was most grateful & doubted whether he would have got back without !πŸ™πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸš²πŸ‘πŸΆπŸΆ

Great days outing with top-drawer company on roads that we don’t see enough of!

  7. Well it was like this for the Seniors & Moira in the absence of any β€˜B’s:-

Ivor, Ken, Pete, Barry, Leigh, Moira & I + guest Doug Pinkerton headed off to Bewdley via Wychbold, Cutnall Green & Stourport where Ivor & Doug departed for a shorter outing.Β

As they turned short Brian Taylor(82 this year) M. C.& A.C. joined our depleted number

The Riverside Cafe’ was busy as would be expected on such a glorious day!Β

A pleasant return via Stourport, Hartlebury & Rushock topped off a splendid incident-free outing! πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ™πŸš²πŸ‘

  8. So JOHN I AM CONFUSED β€’ COM !!!!

If indeed you did go againΒ to WICKHAMFORD (where you went to a fortnight ago) I could understand why you lost at least 4 (Bev,Kev,Chris T. & Pete) along the way in that I understood that you were in fact going to the Β Cobhouse Fishery near WICHENFORD not a cafe’ at WICKHAMFORD?

    Please expedite?
