  1. Started out this morning only did a few miles in the wet so turned back for home. Nothing intereting to take pictures of. So a couple from yesterday. Decided to make an apple pie for pudding. In the oven 180 fan for 20 mins reduce temperature to 160 fan 20 mins. Proof of the pudding is in the eating. it's just got to be custard with apple pie. Looks good and tasted good. There are no limits to this mans talents.
  2. With such a warm and sunny day on Sunday decided to take the camera and remind those not riding far what the Cotswold still look like. Went out via Alcester, Welford and on through Long Marston before getting the camera out. Leaving Long Marston looking towards The Cotswod. Heading into Mickleton. Barry Lucas demise the hill up to Hidcote Gardens. Turn right at the top and head for Ebrington. Take the right hand lane by the pub. Next place Chipping Campden. The first time i've seen the High Street empty. The cafe down the alley now serves fry ups again. Now for a little climbing out of Campden. Crossing the main road from Broadway to Stow. Top of the Wolds down the lane with the lavender farm on the left. Next place Snowshill. Then the fast descent into Broadway. The only people in Brodway cyclists and motor cyclists. The return route home via bottom of Saintbury and through Honeybourne and Bidford. Finishing of up the usual lanes from Hillers, Inkberrow up to Tardebigge with the Lickeys to finish. What a Great day for a Great ride.
  3. Ivor's missing answers. The crossroads Ivor thought was Wroxall was a few miles farther on at Hasley I went straight on to Hatton. The cider pub was The Bluebell ran by John & Ann Hadley the move to run The Hampstall cider house at Astley Buff near Stourport. Haven't got that long to wait for the little grey cells to activate for John S. The pub used to be called The Rippleridge Inn. Went to Harvington Hall many years ago think it's about time for another visit. Glad someone looks at my pictures. Have somemore so will start another page.
  4. Tuesday 26/05/20 Another sunny day ahead should be a warm one. Dig out the shorts and summer top look forward to a few good hours on the bike. Take the camera and take more pictures to identify. Legs feel good would be nice by the seaside as a couple of hundred miles is now acceptable lets go. A) Blue skies not much wind about where's this seascape? B) Haven't been round here for a long time. Whats the house and where is it? C) Seems to have its own church what's it called? This looks like an interesting building. D) Nice pub. Name and place? E) Another pub. What was it originally called. Don't forget to complete the questions Ivor missed from the earlier set of pictures first.
  5. Well spotted Dave a bit of a give away leaving the sign post in the picture. Nice to see Ivor can still remember his way around. He almost got everything correct BUT. What was the name of pub selling cider? ( do you know the name of the Beacon member who ran it, went on to run another cider pub at Astley Buff on the river Severn. Can you name it.) The one he mistook was Wroxall where should it be. Looks like another good week ahead maybe take the camera out again.
  6. MY 26th Social Distanced Solo Ride. What another great day for riding bikes. As we can now go out and ride until our legs drop of I took the camera out today. Lets see who knows some local places in a 30 mile radius. Went out in an easterly to south easterly direction, for those who rarely travel that direction a map and compass may be needed to identify the places and route I took. A) didn't quite make the seaside. What's this. B) Whats this pub called and what did it sell. C) Michelle's favorite cake shop. Name should be easy. Where? Cafe is closed but still open for other sales. D) Where does this drive leed to. What's the name of the house. . Looking back down the drive.. E) Name the other property not far away. F) What the village to the right of this crossroad. G) Where could this be. G) This is a well known pub/hotel on this road called? and place. H) Dropping back into the lanes what direction might i be heading. I've past this this place going the other way and looking back. . Some nice lanes you miss if not riding over this way. I) Going straight over where am i. This is where i've come from. J) They used to make the best meat pies in the country if not the world. Where is it and what is it. K) How many miles did i cover. Passed lots of pubs pity they were all closed. For a small fee guide tours can be arranged at 2 metres of course. Lets see who has the knowledge. Should pass an hour away.

It's a good job John knows his way about and his memory hasn't gone yet. Did have an email from Alan T the pictures took him back to his youth.
  11. The weather has been great for riding the past few weeks. It's nice to ride on quiet roads although the past week has seen an increase in traffic. I'm getting used to riding solo but conversation with myself can be much the same i've sorted the virus situation and put the world to right many times. Like Boris I've got it Done. 16. Note! it was stated on the 22nd March in Virus News that we would no longer ride in groups only solo due to Social Distancing. it has come as a great disappointment to hear that one of our members has been flaunting the rules. It only needs one to spoil it for the majority. I think as a club we may need to take some form of disciplinary action with any member found disobeying the rules. I also feel that the age group of our riders should have enough courtesy by now to warn and pass pedestrians with some respect. We are lucky to be able still to ride at the moment. Behaviour like this soon escalates and brings the club into disrepute. It could also end cycling for the near future. Please notify me if you see any members breaking the rules. Keep solo Keep safe Chris P Chairman
  17. After yesterdays disappointing news of a club member not riding solo, I will not do another tour as it may be interpreted the wrong way.
  18. Happy birthday to Hilary. She's almost caught me up. Love & best wishes Chris
  19. Sorry Moira not quite correct. Ivor asked me to post these for John & Moira. Now who's got the biggest. They're probably battery driven.
  20. Not so keen today. Winter gear back on. Rather cold, temp didn't get above 6 degs. Great going out wind on my back turn for home bent over on the bars and hang on tight. . Keep safe Keep riding.

    Les Ladbury

Sad news about Les. Raced with him on many occasions in the 60's and 70's. Also spent a couple of hours in the shop at Jinny Ring some years ago and chatted about racing days. Last time we met up was at a boozers run at The Swan Chaddesley Corbett some years back. R..I.P. Les
  22. Forgot to mention I saw Leigh this morning trying to tone himself up. Looked rather red faced, top open to waist and in shorts heading in the opposite direction towards Crowle. Not a pretty sight. We did pass a brief Hello without stopping.
  23. 3rd SoDi (Social Distancing) ride this morning, another sunny day a chill in the air with a northerly wind. Getting ready to change back to winter the weekend. . .
  24. You're lucky we seem to be in dog paradise. Either dog walkers at the bottom of the garden. Or dogs barking for hours. Must do more Social Distancing tomorrow and get away from them.
