  1. An excellent turn out this morning starting from TB John , Mick , Gordon , Leigh , Tim , Julie and me . Barry joined us near to Feckenham. A nice steady ride out. On arrival we managed to get one of the lock gates tables the sun was shinning and we had  a lovely view .
Talk turned to the route home when Julie piped up I know 2 ways home from Wootten  Wawen I’ve been here loads then Barry jumped in wanted  exact detail of the route home as for once he was going to have cycle further home than the rest of us.  You have to remember that Julie and Barry have one thing in common  “ They have no sense of direction “ . Thinking it could be entertaining we decided that Julie would navigate us back to Weather Oak Hill.

Whilst these discussion were taking place Ivor arrived and joined us lovely to see him out on a Sunday. We set off Julie on the front full of confidence and bumped into Chris P and Rodger at the end of the driveway they decided not to stop and come back with us.

As we came out of WW we didn’t do our normal turn but carried on with Julie directing promising us we’d go home via Studley and then on a cycle path . To our surprise and Julie’s  we ended up back on the main road when she said quietly to me I don’t recognise this. We did a right turn to a place name she had heard  off Barry carried straight on as he wanted a shorter route home ( but with his navigation skills who knows where he ended up )

Chris P came to the rescue and navigated us to Weather Oak Hill where we separated. Ivor went with Julie to make sure she found her way home !!! We never made it to Studley .

Joking apart a great ride and nice to have 11 Sarcens members out riding together . There are pictures below one in particular showing John’s new cycling shoes which have been a discussion point for the last couple of weeks .

  2. Upton on Severn Marina is the venue tomorrow morning going out via the little steep hill to Dormston , Kington etc

Barry meet you at Priest Bridge or Flying Horse Lane same as last week and the Philpott’s will meet us prior to the steep hill. Alan tells me that they take cash at the Marina 🤞🏻

    9.30 am TB 🚴🌹🚴‍♀️

  3. Well an excellent turn out today. Starting from TB me , Mick , Leigh and Tim. We met Barry at Flying Horse Lane then the Philpott’s at Broad Green then Tony and Dave M joined us before Grafton Flyford. A good ride out Tony did his own his own route from North Piddle . We then zigged and zagged via Wyre Piddle where Micks gear cable broke on the steep downhill leaving him in a heavy gear luckily he has big thighs which he needed up dog kennel hill .

When we arrived at the cafe sitting outside already was Ivor , Chris P and the Shelley’s having driven there. A lovely setting with great views and a lake. We had a good old chin with bike repairs Dave, Ivor and Mick managed to tie his gear cable tied  in on a lower gear . Bike shoe trying on by John it was all happening.

We split up a bit on the way home eventually leaving me with Chris P ,  Mick ,Tim and Ivor . Tim and Ivor never stopped discussing there electric bikes all the way back moaning we were going to slow up hills !!!

A nice ride and a good new cafe. Chris P will post some photo’s.

  4. This weeks venue is Springridge Nursery and Tea Room Crowle . I hear you saying that’s too close but we will be zigging and zagging our way from TB via Pershore to make decent miles before landing for refreshments.

Barry we will be turning right at Priest Bridge and then going past The Philpott’s house where we collect them. So meet us on route but no going past the end of Flying Horse Lane past Broadacres  ( you now know where it ends !!! So hopefully you won’t miss us 😝)

    9.30 am start TB 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

  5. Today’s riders and runners were Julie , John , Mick ( the roofer ) , Leigh , Barry , Christine , Alan and Tim started with us too. Nice to see Tim out on a very bright orange mountain bike converted to electric. He stayed with us until Feckenham and then continued on his own .

John took the planned short cut and we all met up at Clive’s within 5 minutes of each other ( the Philpott’s came via Pershore).

Nice to see Tony and Dave just before Fladbury .
We had a bit of fun towards Fladbury as two cyclist a woman on the front and a man overtook us so that was red rag to a bull for Mick so we chased them down and sat on there wheels they took the bait and the man went onto the front but they couldn’t shake us off . I must say I was quite glad when we had to turn right for Cropthorne and they continued straight on.

The cafe that’s another tail another long wait eventually the tea cakes and toast came out only being toasted on one side !! After another 10 minutes the tea came out peace meal .

Luckily Mick had brought some homemade healthy flapjack with him which we shared out while waiting it was delicious .

Nice ride back but we somehow lost the Philpott’s and Leigh on the down hill into Pershore. Alan I’m assuming you took your normal short cut through Pershore. We did catch up Leigh well Mick did after chasing him down before Flying Horse Lane.

Good luck tomorrow Leigh with your operation .

  6. John has asked me to post the ride again as he’s not sure whether he will make the complete ride due to his little problem but we have a planned a short cut for him so hopefully he will be the advance party at  Clive’s  and get us a good table.

Clive's at Cropthorne it is but going out a different way from TB for a change.

Barry we will be coming from Feckenham (the road to the side of what was Barrett’s of Feckenham) then going to the junction of A422/A441 where we normally meet you. Then we will be turning right along the Ridgeway and then right at the Toll House . Then turning left at the Wheel Barrow and Castle Pub (Redford) a possible meeting point for the Philpott’s then the normal route out via Fladbury.

As normal 9.30am at TB fingers crossed it will have rained itself today .🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

  7. Unfortunately John is still indisposed so he’s asked me to host the run .

Long Marston it is here’s hoping I remember the way . Meeting as normal 9.30 am at TB.

Barry I intend to go out via Feckingham and up that horrible little steep hill at the top of the Ridgeway where we normally meet you then down through Arrow ( hope that makes sense )

See you in the morning 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

  8. A good ride today nice to have Roger  with us for a change and more importantly we were joined by Julie (Dave Mortimer’s daughter ).

Leigh decided to have a lie in his bed so was late getting to TB so he joined us at the cafe . Bev started out with us but turned off to do a non stopper after going up the Lenches . We picked Barry up at Radford . Nice to see Tony and Dave Mitchel out going in the opposite direction to the Lenches !!!!

Barry has a new Garmin bought from Tim ( watch out Tim ) as he is having problems with it may be operator error !! Julie tried her best as she has one the same but we will have to wait and see we might see it for sale on the website as Barry wants a simple idiots proof one 😝

We bumped into the Philpott’s on Flying Horse Lane both out testing there batteries 🤪

    A few pictures below .

  9. Well so much for the later start to avoid the rain we all got wet on the way to TB and even sheltered under the bridge for 10 minutes. We then decided to brave the rain the sun kept teasing us popping out for a bit then the rain would come back. It did eventually dry out and was quite nice dried us out apart from our feet 🦶

Leigh had a puncture and he did stand around a bit like a girl waiting for John’s assistance . Luckily John has big monster thumbs as he even struggled to get Leigh’s tyre back on.
We stopped at Broadacres for refreshments and then cycled home with the sun on our backs.

Out today John, Leigh , Bev and me .

  10. There was 4 of us this morning John , Gordon , Leigh and myself .
We headed off to Bewdley luckily avoiding pig hill. On arrival it was very busy by the river and they were queuing up outside The Riverside Cafe with no tables available .
I know a fisherman quite well who fishes Bewdley regularly who had told me of mobile breakfast van that sat on The Waggon and Horse pub car park what he forgot to mention was that they had taken the top surface off the road to it so a very bumpy ride to get there . It was well worth it lovely bacon sandwiches.

    My sunflowers .

  11. Thought I’d better post something to show that we are actually going out . We met at The Reindeer cafe this morning but unfortunately the reindeer wouldn’t come up to the cafe end . We had a very brief glimpse of them but on seeing  Mrs Philpott with her camera out, they went off in the opposite direction !!

Johns first real outing since finishing his treatment he is going well . Nice to see Pat and Ken too we had a lovely ride back with them . Chris and Michelle joined us briefly on Flying Horse Lane but they were going into Broad Acres for refreshments.

This cafe is now shutting until the end of October .

A few photos below of our motley bunch .

  12. Ivor my tulips are looking good.

Chris P good one here goes ( The letters on the pictures and questions don't match no G on the pictures which then puts I and J different on the questions ) All in my neck of the woods and I have been most of them !!!

    B. You're in Clent looking over towards Malvern I think

    F. Anckor Caunsall

H (G) The Old Ticket Office new name The Tap House ( not sure on this one )

    I (H) The Lock Wolverley

    J (I) Swan Chaddesley Corbett

The pub at the bottom of Day House Bank which is now a house was The Manchester Inn.

    I reckon  you did 47.5 miles .

Looking forward to next weeks pub quiz 😝

  13. Looks very good John almost like new . The garage door looks good too have you painted it recently ?

Solo riding what fun it is !! Find it hard to motivate myself to do more than 30 miles no wheel to follow and no John to fix my punctures ( I seem to get a few on my winter bike )

Went out Monday just coming up that little hill towards TB rear puncture bloody hell I thought even after my lessons from John and Philpott and the card I carry with step by step instructions on I still can't get the last part of the tyre on . Plus being on the back wheel never can get it back on as that chain gets in the way and never sits right !!! (hopeless I know ) . So I rang international rescue and Mark my husband came to get me.

I did  fix the puncture myself found the piece of Flint in the tyre but had to get Mark to get the last part of the tyre on but couldn't get the wheel back in  luckily Kevin Rogers was about . Kev suggested I changed both tyres as they have wire in them apparently , on the bike when I bought it which is probably why I can't get them on . So he put my 2 new tyres on for me which hopefully after some thumb exercises I will get fully back on.

Been out today no problems thank goodness. Saw loads out luckily it wasn't too windy so had a good ride .

  14. Got to the cafe in the car with John and Mark (my husband) to find one very brave cyclist there waiting for us . Phil Carver braved  the elements on his new winter bike . He tried to stay on the main roads saying it wasn't to bad but it was foggy from Kidderminter to Chadsley Woods. Well done Phil for getting out.

I was worried about coming off but on rushing to get yo yoga trying to get food into the slow cooker I nearly sliced the end of my left middle finger off when skinning a leek . Still went to yoga though .Would have probably been safer on the frosty roads !!

Yes Mr Pardo us ladies have to prepare food as well as cycling 😝

Just back from the minor injury clinic at the Princess of Wales hospital. They did a better job than me at dressing it .image.thumb.jpeg.e1780ee9e82552a01220e3feab59bddd.jpeg
