Sean Barker
Along with our summer 100km calendar event we have now added a 200km permanent event to our Audax selection. This is an event that can be ridden at a time of your choosing. Full details can be found in the following link http://www.aukweb.net/perms/detail/SBA01/ Should any of you fancy taking on this challenge please let us know in here. I do know Laura is considering riding a longer event like this at some stage and Dave has expressed an interest in riding a 200km Audax, although it may well get in the way of his racing programme during the summer months. AlanW
I'll be up for riding it if we want to get a small group together?
Sean Barker
That sounds like a great idea Alan I'm up for that too. Perhaps sometime in the summer months?
DaveM
Great work Sean. This should up our profile. Hope to do one of these with you one day.
Lauralane
I've only just seen this!! I'll be up for it, although the climbs scare me.... How fast would we be doing it?
Sean Barker
If we ride as a group it will be at the comfortable pace of the slowest rider. But three cafe stops
AlanW
I've only just seen this!! I'll be up for it, although the climbs scare me.... How fast would we be doing it? As Sean has already said, the group would only be as fast as the slowest rider. That said, don't feel intimidated, ride at your own pace, if others speed up the hills, let them go and the group will reform. Above all, just enjoy the day and the challenge! Lauralane
I'm in then I'd have to know a few weeks in advance to book the day off work if it falls on a shift x
Sean Barker
We just need to agree on a date, sometime in the summer. Dave is keen but it would have to be at a time that won't interfere with his TT commitments. Dave if you can throw a month into the ring we could work from that. Anyone else fancy a group ride on this course?
Sean Barker
I have also added a second 200km Permanent Audax to our selection http://www.aukweb.net/perms/detail/SBA02/ Both very different in character.
Saracen RC Administrator
I have now added a page for each of our permanent Audax events and added them to the website. They can be accessed from the home page along with our summer Audax
Sean Barker
I rode this today and I have to say it’s a lovely course but quite a tough one. The ride down to Tewkesbury is an easy start but it starts to get hilly after that on the run up to Ludlow via Ledbury, Bromyard and Leominster. After Ludlow it gets serious with the climb up to Clee Hill Common at 150km a particularly tough one. Finishing the route over Dayhouse Bank seemed easy after that. It should have been a good view from up on Clee Hill Common but the lower ground was covered in mist.
Sean Barker
Rode this again today and after Tewkesbury it was into a ferocious head wind but after Ludlow I had it pushing me home for the last 60km
