Happy Birthday Chris, hope you have a great day

Happy Birthday Colin. Hope you and Christine are both well down there in Somerset and your having a great day today. It's a long time ago since we started school together in 1964/5 at S/O Boys and joined the Saracen RC a couple of years later in 1967.

Hope your having a great birthday Chris and keeping in the warm with your feet up being pampered on by your dear wife Hilary as deserved.

Thankyou you both Chris and Hillary for organising the Christmas lunch. A very enjoyable afternoon spent catching up with old friends along with an excellent meal served by Hillscourt as always. Mick and Sandra.

Very sad news indeed, always had a tale to tell and he certainly was a character to be around. One word to sum up our friend, Unique !!!. R.I.P Mick.

Would have been with you today but went out yesterday. So doing today what I would have done yesterday, if I hadn't gone out yesterday before I saw where you were going today.
If you see what I mean 🤔
Your not out today then Tony

Also, Happy Birthday to Chris and Kev and in response to MIck H's boozy old boys do: what date, as you don't say? Or have I missed it, as a Newbie?
The clue to the date of the event is in the title Steve Tomorrow 19th JUNE

For those who maybe interested there is a social meeting at The Swan at Chàddesley Corbett 'scene of many boozers runs at X'mas' for the Old Boys and Ex Racers, this is going to take place between 12.15-3.30pm. A chance to catch up with old friends and witter on about the old times and raise a glass to our friends who unfortunately are with us anymore. I've been informed there are a number of ex champions going to be with us coming from far afield, but this is John 'Eddy' Edward's who has told me this. Of course the ladies are invited at your own risk. I'm also informed that any endurance riders are going on to the Nailers Arms, Bournheath to have a top up if required. Hydration is very important for an athlete or cyclist.

Looks like both groups were down on numbers today.
Roger has been on the sick with the virus all week having caught it of his other half Di.
Tess wasn't called out in the night so joined me to get a few miles in, hoping not to get caught in a shower.
I decided to take her on a new adventure in an easterly direction into the wind.
We headed out to Solihull not the best of routes on main roads.
Leaving Solihull the roads got quieter as we passed through Hampton in Arden and up to Meriden.
Surprised to find a mass of cyclists there on the Green as it was the memorial day.
We had to detour through the lanes to reach Fillongley as the direct road was closed.
We pushed on towards Nuneaton before turning right at Astley with the cafe a couple of miles down the road.
For those keen readers this is the stop for you.
It is called The Book Farm most of the site is full of books for sale with many old or first editions ( rather expensive ).
The cafe is fascinating with signs and thing hanging everywhere.
There is plenty of choice on the menu and the cakes are to die for.
Tess went for the chocolate cake with strawberry's and cream and I had the apple pie and custard.
On the way back found a place for old Saracen riders.
Returned back via Balsall Common and Knowle with the wind behind us.
Clocking up about 60 miles and avoiding any rain showers.
Quite surprised to here there where any cakes left as you were in that queue

Proper cafe, could be tempted

A friend of mine (just got keen on the bike)
is looking for a turbo
Anybody got one for sale?
Ivor
Hi Ivor, if Roger can't help I have one hardly used and I have the riser for the front wheel rather than using a brick or encyclopedia. Give me a call.

Best wishes Tess, hope you have time off to enjoy your day.

Happy New Year to all my friends and fellow Saracen Members. Best wishes to all.

I have just heard the news that Grant Thomas has sadly passed away. I know he was admitted to hospital a few weeks ago. Very sad news. RIP.

Never mind Laura, you was still smiling looking at your photo. We had some magnificent tea cakes on Sunday at Wellsbourne, pity you was at home nursing a hangover after your night out on Saturday.

Thanks for your company today Chris good to catch up with Roger and yourself and it was great to see Laura out and clearly well on the way to getting back to her former fitness. You should have kept me out longer though Chris as arriving back home realised I didn't have my keys to get in the house, Sandra had gone out and I didn't have my phone. Jazz my faithful dog realised I was home but has been trained not to open the door to anyone, including me. Oh well only had to wait an hour.

Welcome back

I'm innocent, I was out today but I totally the opposite direction. Not the first time I've had it said about small group riding with a Saracen Jersey present.

Chris, regarding the comment on me being able to buy a round of drinks I'm afraid being a poor pensioner my weekly spend will not allow me to stretch that far. It just as well I'm not a heavy drinker and sure I can make a pint of beer last a couple of hours ' have you seen the price of a pint nowadays ' !!!. I'll gladly enjoy enjoy a second pint of someone is buying.
