ChrisP
What happened to Sunday great Saturday not so bad today. Loaded mudguard bike into car and set of early in the pouring rain for Ludlow racecourse. By the time I reached Clee Hill you couldn't see more than 50yds. up the road. Dropping down the other side and back below the clouds things got a little clearer and managed to find my way to the racecourse. Still loads of mad cyclisst turned up so thought I'd better join in. Heavy rain falling and the temperature in single figures winter kit was needed, although some were in shorts and short sleeve tops. I decided to use long sleeve base layer, long sleeve top, tights and overshoes plus waterproof top and cap under crash helmet. Didn't feel cold all day and most of it spent in waterproof. Took top of with about 5 mile to go as It brightened up as it always does. A well organised route on quiet roads with stunning views as we crossed in and out of Wales across the border from Shropshire. The route was mainly on rolling roads with one significant climb of Anchor Hill near Abermule about 5 mile from Montgomery. Only problem it was about 10K long mainly steady with some steeper sections. After that a long down hill stretch to Clun. Rather a damp start. Takes me back to winter weekend runs and spending all Saturday night in the Three Tons or Six Bells. Followed by the struggle home on Sunday.
