Dave Jones Posted March 16, 2018 Report Share Posted March 16, 2018 I have had the sad, and unexpected news through Chris Pardoe that Mike Florence passed away last weekend. Although Mike was not a member of the Saracen, he regularly met up with our members at the Defford Farm Shop Cafe on Tuesdays for a chat, having ridden there by various routes from his home in Worcester. Those of us who raced in the 1950s and 1960s remember him as a member of the Edgbaston Road Club. He was a particularly strong rider, both in road races and time trials, and he competed at the highest level in the UK as an amateur, participating in such events as the Manx International on the Isle of Man. Mike rode regularly with his wife, Elaine, and I would unexpectedly meet up with them both quite frequently during my rides south of Worcester.
