  1. Sorry John. I won't be out. My baby boy is 36 tomorrow so I'm celebrating with him. Hope you have a good ride
  2. Setting off from TB were John, Moira (who had returned from a very nice break in Norfolk) and Bev. We were also joined by Roger who was parked up at TB waiting for us. We had a pretty strong headwind going out but Roger and John set a brisk pace on the front. We picked Steve, Leigh and Dave M up on the way and headed for Clive's. On arrival we sat outside and put in our orders. Very strange though as we were asked to pay as they brought the food. We all obliged and actually it was probably a good idea as we didn't have to queue to pay at the end. Leigh set off on his own with the rest of us following not far behind. In fact we nearly caught him but red traffic lights held us back. We kept getting a glimpse of him in the distance. Dave M decided to sing us a few hymns on the way back. I'm not sure what was worse, the singing or Roger's free wheel. What a racket 😜. Roger decided to do an extra loop after TB. I hope he didn't get caught in the rain which, for me, started at 2.15 pm. Luckily I was back and missed getting wet. I expect everyone avoided it. Alan, I hope your neck improves and that you are soon out with us again. Pics below 👇
  3. I won't be out. It's a bit wet here.
  4. Sorry I missed the ride today but I'm very busy lying in the sun. It's a hard life. I'll be back out Thursday to regale you with all my holiday stories!! 😂😂 Someone needs to have a word about that wind situation Moira 💨💨💨
  5. Very good write up John. I forgot to mention we saw loads of cyclists coming the other way. I think there might have been an audax on 🤔
  6. It was a good ride Moira. I'm glad we got out early. It's been raining since I got back home. I agree weather forecasters are a waste of space!!!
  7. Hi John It's too hot for a delicate flower, such as me so I'm going out early with Moira. Looks like you'll be doing the write up 😉
  8. What a gorgeous day for a bike ride. It looks like summer has decided to make an appearance at last! Starting at TB were Moira, John, Tim, kev and me. We also had a pleasant surprise when Roger turned up too. (Although I was a bit worried about pace!) Making our way to the Ridgeway, we picked up Steve. kev left us at Bidford and we carried on to the Barn. A lot of potholes were encountered along the road before the café. We had a near miss due to the potholes but thankfully all was ok. The Phillpotts turned up a few minutes later and for some reason started to do a few high kicks. Pics below. I must say they are very flexible!! Although Alan didn't look good afterwards.....😱 It must be hot today as Chris turned up in her shorts and summer top. Very dapper she looked too. Pity she will have to pack them away in a few weeks when we get into autumn weather. Fingers crossed we get an Indian summer 🤞 A little while later, just as we were getting ready to leave, Leigh arrived. We had to leave him to his tea and get back in the saddle for home. Another near miss for Tim, John, Roger, Moira and me by Blackwell golf club when some idiot driver coming down the lane too fast nearly took me and Moira out as he was too busy looking angry at the boys!! Eejit!! Otherwise, a great ride and lovely summer temperatures. Who could ask for more 🚲🚲🚲
  9. See you tomorrow 🚲🚲🚲
  10. Good write up Moi. We managed to dodge the rain as well so a good ride home
  11. Fab. Hope to see you tomorrow. Not too big a loop 🙈😀
  12. Oh yes rovi. But to be honest it's pretty obvious 😂
  13. First of all bad luck to the lionesses. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Setting off from TB were Tim, John, Leigh and me. Moira had chosen to watch the footie and others are away on holiday or had visitors. So a busy weekend for our members 😀 We picked up Barry and Alan at the top of the Ridgeway. Chris was apparently still fitting the new kitchen and couldn't come out 😜. A lovely day but a bit of a headwind but not as bad as Moira and I had yesterday going to Bewdley. Now that was serious wind. 💨💨💨. Stopping at the railway carriage we got there pretty early. We had averaged 15.6 going out. My legs could feel it too. We had cake, tea and teacakes. Very nice too. We also got a biscuit in the shape of a spoon, but as you can see from the photo of John below he bit into it before I could take a pic. So there's a pic of the wrapper instead. Little quiz for the observant amongst you.... See if you can spot the flagrant disregard for rules in one of the pics and more importantly the owner of said misdemeanor 😜. Answers on a postcard please. I am very pleased to report that Alan managed very well in Chris' absence. Managing to pour his tea all by himself. It's amazing how he can cope all on his own. It was a miracle. 😂😂. Back home up Binton Hill which was a long drag. I had thought we were going over Astwood Bank (cos Alan told me we were, I was dreading it) but turns out we weren't. You wait Alan 😡! The one road was a bit bumpy and someone thought they had a puncture, but thankfully it was a false alarm. As I've been out 4 times this week, I've clocked up 208 miles which apparently is pretty good so I was instructed to post my achievement on here. (I'm not really into blowing my own trumpet 😇). Nice ride today, I'm glad I drove to TB though I was very pleased to see my car. Til next time 🚲🚲🚲
  14. I'm hoping to be out John Although we had a tough ride to bewdley today. I'll test my legs in the morning 😀😉
  15. Hey Moira I think you might recall I shouted "car" at the top of my voice. But clearly my little dulcet tones weren't heard. 😜
  16. I'll be there Sorry for late post x
  17. Setting off from TB were Bev, Moira, Tim, John and me. John was suffering from the onset of a cold and wasn't feeling too good. He said he might cut it short but would see how he felt. He had his new socks on which matched his Saracens top, perfectly... Thanks to Moira so it was hoped this might help 😁 We set off picking up Barry, Dave M and Leigh on the way. We went the long way round and arriving at the café Steve and Jen were waiting for us. Unfortunately Koffee & Cake was full so we headed off to Coffee 1. I am pleased to report that John made it to the café... What a trooper he is! It's a pity it was full as Moira said the cakes looked lovely. Perhaps next time we will get in to sample them. A bit of confusion as to where to leave the bikes with some opting to take them through the shop to the back. While others left them out the front. Suffice to say they were still there when we came out. Moira chivvied us along as rain was expected. She wasn't wrong as we encountered a few heavy downpours on the way back and a great big puddle to cycle through. That was fun! Not 😄. Bev and Dave decided to go back via Berry Lane. Bev going on her jollies for a few days wanted to get back. The rest of us headed back via Flying Horse Lane and back over the Lickeys. I have to say the rain was intermittent and heavy. I asked the others if they'd got puddles in their shoes but it seemed that was just me. A good ride with great company but the weather could have been kinder to us. Pics below, including the aforementioned socks. 😆
  18. Good write up Moira and no it wasn't alcohol induced for a change. I'll be back Tuesday 🤞👍
  19. I'll be there. Good call given the unpredictable weather forecasts lately.
  20. A damp start today with a few ominous black clouds over the lickeys as I headed towards TB. Have to admit I nearly turned back, but I'm glad I didn't as it turned out nice again (in the words of George Formby - if you're just old enough to remember him!) Meeting at TB were Moira, John and me. Bev deciding the gym was a better option. Making our way to PB we picked up Dave M, Steve T, Chris P, Barry and the Phillpotts. So a good turn out. A nice ride out into the wind arriving at Springridge in the sunshine, so we risked it and sat outside. Birthday Boy, Dave, treated us all to cakes and very nice they were too. Thank you Dave and a very happy 80th birthday to you!! Hope you enjoyed the family party on your return home. 🥳🥳🥳🥳 It was lovely to see Mick out too who turned up just after we arrived. Well done on getting out, despite still suffering with your back. After a good old chin wag about the tour, cycling holidays and cruises, we set off for home via hanbury, so a few little hills along the way. But the sun was shining which made it feel a lot better. After the Jinny ring there were just four of us left to get home through Bromsgrove. Chris', John, Moira and me. Moira decided she HAD to do 50 miles so we took a detour and bumped into kev outside his house who was gardening. On for home and Moira got her 50 in, thank goodness, we'd have never heard the last of it!😜 A good ride in the end after a slightly wet start. Pics below including the birthday boy! happy 80th birthday Dave. Looking good!dont do it Moira. You can have more cake!!!! 😅
  21. I'll be there. Weather permitting. Lanes will be a bit mucky after today 😆
  22. Great write up John. You're a natural. Glad you got out and not too wet. See you soon
  23. I doubt I'll be out John I've still got the lurgy. Hope you have a good ride and out run the rain 👍
