Race Results

Recommended Posts

It has been mentioned to me the lack of race reports being posted this racing season so could I

please ask anyone who might like to contribute on there events they are taking part in maybe put

there results and maybe a short report on the forum for others to share.

I usualy when competing with other members of the club  ask them to put a report together or will do  it for them.

It is not possible or practicle for me to do a report if someone is racing and I am not there but please

forward your results to me and will happily post your time/position of the race you have taken part in for you  be it  in a Time Trial or Road Race.

It would be far better for you to post the results yourself on the Forum and maybe add a short report along with it as people have done in the past.

Please note that it is not my responsibil'ity to do this for you and I don't always know where and when

other members are racing.

Please keep the reports coming in.

Mike.

Mike.

Apologise for not posting sooner. I have ridden a few events to date as follows,

Dragon 2 day Stage1  45m road race- First road race since 1985, hardest part was getting used to riding flat out in a bunch again.

I did manage to go up the road in the early winning break, not the best idea, legs hurt !! so ended up finishing in the bunch.

                      Stage2 3.5 m TT  Very tired legs finished 7th

Stage3   44 m road race- Now legs really hurt, A break of 3 went away early again thank God and the race settled down, the breakaway stayed away and I managed to win the bunch sprint for 4th place.

I finished 3rd in my D cat overall, And 11th overall in the race. The race was won by Rob O'Conner Bush Healthcare.

My next race of note was the Stafford RC Road race 50m on the Swynnerton circuit. Early break with approx. 12 riders, this was a hard circuit with a decent gradient of about 2mile up to the finish. I struggled with the speed in the early laps but gradually found my legs to take the bunch sprint.

I raced in the D cat National Champs 60m Audlem circuit, realised just how competitive vets racing is going to be. The commitment and fitness levels seems far higher than when these riders were racing all those years ago. Well the Race was very hard and fast, I saw a dangerous move 3/4 way through the race  in a breakaway forming, silly me decided to jump across. On my arrival in the break and having given 100% effort we were gobbled up by a very angry counter attacking bunch. Needless to say the back door opened and I watched the race go away from me.A fine ride by John French saw him wearing the LVRC winners jersey.

I rode today 53m Velo Equipe  Bucks- A 4m circuit with a decent hill and drag, again struggled with speed on the early laps but did manage to climb the hill 12 times and finish in the bunch so enjoyed today.

Have ridden a couple of evening 10m TT best so far 25,07 in the Wyre Forrest evening event on my road bike.

Well done John,  early days yet and your obviously finding your race legs in this your comeback year after many years out of competing in races.

The racing is certainly as competortive if not more so than 30 years ago and with the same riders and old rivals.
