Mick Hazlewood
Yesterday saw me compete in my last Time Trial of the 2014 season. My aim was to race this distance earlier on in the year but due to the lack of events promoted and other racing commitments this was my one and only chance. Having not enjoyed the best of form for the last 4 to 6 weeks I only decided to enter this one at the the last minute and still only made my mind up to ride on Saturday after riding the V C Sevale 10 and having a decent race. Plus a little bit of encouragement from Sam to give it a go. Thanks for that !. An early start to travel down to Abergavenny as I was off at 8.44am and the weather looking pretty good, dry and only a light wind. As always competing down in Wales it was a superbly organised event and the bonus at the HQ afterwards was plenty of homemade cake and other refreshments including hot Bacon baps which went down really well with everyone. The results came in nice and quick and was pleased with my time of 2.06.17 which is a comeback PB of some five and a half minutes which I did last year on the same course in the same event. Still about 3 minutes of my lifetime PB set about 35 years ago though, so I still have a target to aim for at this distance next year. Now for a bit of a rest just enjoying riding the bike with no pressure.
stumpy
Excellent ride Mike, That's a great way to finish off the season well done matey. It's been a bit of a frustrating season for me as you know with things going down the pan after June, still lessons were learnt (mainly that I need to stretch even more and to take smaller steps in the quest for a higher FTP) so hopefully next year will prove even better for all of us. I would just like this opportunity to say a very well done to all Saracen members whether racing, helping, cheering, or what ever, thanks guys & gals. Mick Hazlewood
Thanks Colin,. Just get out and enjoy the bike over the next 4 or 5 months mate, and the fitness and strength hopefully will come naturally and then get some races entered. Mick. Mick Hazlewood
Magnificent ride Mick and a truly fantastic season with so many exceptional performances. You have my complete respect and admiration. Thankyou Sean for your congratulations on my seasons racing efforts. There is always room for improvement as you know so well yourself, and being as competitive as I am I will be looking for faster times and even more consistency in 2015. The racing season is now over and time for some more sedate rides out before the year comes to an end and will then be time to start my training program. Already thinking about it, Sad !.
