Weekend racing Sunday 20th July.

Recommended Posts

Sam and myself are riding the Ross on Wye 25 mTT on Sunday on the R25/7 down at

Usk.

Hopefully this will provide a close result between us especially with Sams previous results

this season and current good form.

I will be starting number 16 at 8.16 with Sam just a minute behind me starting number 17,

which means that she will have me firmly in her sights on the long inclines on the dual

carriageway course. Well I won't see her coming but if she catches me on one of the climbs

I will hear her coming as she normally puffs and pants like an old steam train on uphill sections

when we are out training together.

I'm sure who ever is the slower on the day will be the first to congratulate the other at the

finish.

Whoever that might be will have the pleasure of writing a report on the event so I will do it as

soon as I get chance on Sunday and let you know how my best mates got on.

Tempest indeed, but there's nothing like a good downpour with thunder and lightning thrown in to get you moving along. Even if it is to get the whole thing over with! Only half the team turned up today, which is not surprising given the conditions, leaving only the 'old and the bold'. The bold representative was Paul H who rode a cracking 24:39 and the old, yours truly, with 25:29.

Felt sorry for the time keepers and marshals who had to endure such appalling conditions. Thank you all so much.

Some good results from yourself and Paul there, especially with the weather not making it very pleasant

conditions to race in. Well done.

A great days racing was had by Sam and myself at Usk, Wales.

An early 5.15 start was had to travel down to the event and make sure we had plenty of time to get

there without any stress and warm up for the event.

The weather was quite warm and there was very little wind to talk about but the course did seem to

be slower than expected judging by the times achieved by a lot of riders.

I was slightly disappointed with my time of 1.00.01, 2 seconds quicker would certainly have been

better. I suppose having a few days off my bike and only riding up a couple of mountains at the

beginning of last week whilst on holiday in Majorca may not have been the best preparation.

Any disappointments I might of had were made up in bucket loads by Sam who did a brilliant ride

of 58.31 which of course is another PB over her previous best of 59.08 and also claimed yet another

club record. It's very difficult to find the words to say how pleased I am for her.

Having started just 1 minute behind me she caught me at about 17 miles and even had time to give me

a shout as she went past me.

I would also like to add Sams result which was not reported on a couple of weeks ago when she won a

Silver medal taking second place in the British Sprint distance Triathlon to add to her Gold for her win in

the British Standard distance Triathlon a few weeks earlier.

I think we have to go back a long time in the club history to have a member who has achieved so much

success in a short period of time due to the hard training and commitment she undertakes.

WELL DONE SAM.

Well done to both of you. That was so unfortunate Mick to be a single second the wrong side of the hour. And congratulations again Sam for another sensational performance. I'll update the club records page tomorrow when I have access to the computer with all web page software
