Easter Weekend Racing.

Recommended Posts

Good to report that the Saracen are represented in two events over the Easter bank holiday,

First of all there are 4 riders taking part in the Warwickshire RC 10 mls TT on the K33/10D nr Alcester on Saturday afternoon.

The riders are Sam Boz, Gary W, Dave M and myself.

Then on Monday morning we have 2 riders in the Hereford and District Whlrs 25mls TT on the R25/8C nr Hereford.

The riders are Andy Seabourne, Colin Bradley.

Our good friend Terry Harradine from the ZZ Topp cycling club in Ross on Wye is also riding, I believe Terry won this event some 50 years ago at the age of 17.

Hope he can repeat this performance.

Good luck to everyone and keep safe.

If you fancy giving your team a cheer on Saturday you will find them on the K33 starting near Hillers Farm shop. Put the bike in the car, park up and ride the course, the weather looks good. A great viewing spot is Salford Priors. Event starts at 15.00, Gary is off at 15.04, Mike 15.17, Sam 15.28, and I'm at 15.58. Join us post event at the race H.Q., Cookley Village Hall (B49 5JR) for tea and cake

First the bad news - Sam had a mechanical problem on the way to the start and so was unable to race. :( Never mind Sam there will be plenty of opportunities for you to show us the way in the future. As for the rest of us, it was quite a hard day with a head wind for the longest leg of the course.  Never the less, some good times achieved with Mike leading the way recording 25:16, myself 26:37 and Gary breathing down my neck with a 27:04.

Great to have the support of Eddie Smith and Barry Lucas today. Thanks for coming out both.  Hope you enjoyed the event.

Watch out for further results over the holiday.

Thanks for the very prompt report Dave, and well done Saracen riders and of course thanks to Barry and Eddie for the support.

Commiserations to Sam, hugely disappointed by her DNS .

A big thank you to the Warwickshire RC for a well organised event as always and particular thanks to Helen Minovi for the home made cakes at the HQ, the highlight of the day.

A fitting end to the Saracen holiday activities today with the Hereford Wheeler 25 and what a great day it was with warm sunshine and only a gentle breeze. Andy Seabourne came home with a cracking 1:09:09 and Colin Bradley riding his first 25 for a good while recorded 1:19:47.  Terry Harradine a familiar name to many Saracens, rode and won this event fifty years ago to the day and marked the event with a splendid 1:20:31.

Hats off to Hereford Wheelers for holding a well organised event and three cheers for the ladies who provided us all with a terrific array of sandwiches and cakes

Thanks guys yes it was over 40 years (44 in fact) since I rode a 25 and this one took me an extra 19 mins and it was a bit lumpy as Chris said. A big thank you to Mandy & Dave for coming out and cheering Andy & myself on, it really does help loads to see the bright blue team colours in the distant, if nothing else it makes one try harder the problem with that is it takes the next few minutes to recover from the extra effort, but hey you guys are well worth it.
