ChrisP
Up early for ride over to Solihull for Tommy Godwin Sportive.Very dark, grey and wet although not raining.Quick change of bike for mud guard option put on warmer gear and carry water proof top plus overshoes just incase.I think more have turned out this year than last.We had a good turnout although Eddie & Mavis's grand daughter wasn't going to ride. Our group was made up of Colin Amor and his son, John Poole and his daughter plus Graham Knowle's daughter,Owen H, Hannah S Speedy Kev, Mick McC and myself. The sun managed to break through before we started and although it went cloudy a few times the rain stayed away. With the number of starters only 20 or so were set of at a time. Signing on area. Looking out from Great Alne Village Hall. Showed the man in blue what was needed to repair a blow out in your tyre. Hannah and Owen re-fuel.John Poole and daughter plus Graham Knowle's Daughter in red.Catching back Colin and Mick McC just before turning left for Ullenhall.End of the ride and back at Start having collected our Gongs.More tea and cakes..Catch up time. THE FUTURE IS IN THERE HANDS !!!A very blurred Susan Smith Mavis & Eddie's daughter.Just to show I was there.Kevin likes a gong and can't stop playing with it.Not much left when its time to go.Kay Godwin surrounded by some of Tommy's memorabilia NOTE his old BSA track machine. An old friend of Andy Seabourne who went to school with him a member of the Speedwell CC.He still rides a steel Tommy Godwin Bike.. A great day out enjoyed by all.Not even a drop of rain to spoil it.
