  1. Yes Ivor, more rain, more wind and probably more big puddles πŸ˜• Doesn't look good for clubrun, let's hope Paris-Roubaix riders stay safe, whether wet or dry.

Happy Easter everyone. Barry/Alan - where are you meeting and approx time? Might join you but not stop.
  5. I'd like to echo what Chris has said, and add a few more comments. The club (any club) has always been dependent on members volunteering to organise Sunday runs, and many other equally important things such as social events, club races etc. and I am sure that the rank & file are all very grateful for this freely given work. I would not wish to embarrass them, but in recent years the activity of John, Moira and most recently Julie in arranging and reporting Sunday runs has been excellent, whilst Hilary, Chris and Ivor are key figures in other areas. Unfortunately, our regular riders are a. spread across a wide area of south Birmingham / north Worcs and b. getting older, thus regular weekly attendance and indeed getting to Tardebigge is not always possible or guaranteed. My own move out of Bromsgrove is an example of this. Organising implies some regular attendance at the meeting point, but does not necessarily mean every week - other clubs have a key organiser (Clubrun Secretary?) who posts run details, but also has a rota of him/her self and other members who take on the responsibility of leading the run. I have no answer as to how we can solve this issue unless we recruit newer (and perhaps younger) members who can easily meet at eg Tardebigge - however we have done it before when us 'older members' were ourselves 'younger'! The only sure way to reach all our members is to post details on the club website so that the meeting place is constant but destination (and possibly route) are provided so that others may join in. There are other social media platforms eg Facebook, WhatsApp which can be used but not all members will have (or want) access to them. This brings me to the WhatsApp group. The regular Tuesday run was started by Ken Haddon and myself when we retired. As others found the time to join us, and Covid lockdowns came and went, the group expanded, shrank and then expanded again. Whereas originally a group of 4, 5 or at most 6 would turn out, we have more recently occasionally seen anything up to a dozen or more at Defford. Quite rightly, Darren asked us post Covid to let him know in advance the numbers going, so that he could arrange/reserve tables and prepare for the invasion. As a result, Alan suggested and Moira created the group so that regular Tuesday riders could 'clock in' and Alan could inform Darren accordingly. I do not know what Darren would say if we told him twenty seats were required, but I can say that there was no intention of usurping the Sunday run arrangements. I hope, after a rather busy and disrupted winter, I can get out more frequently soon. Stay safe, everyone.
  6. On family duties this weekend. Looks a bit windy tomorrow as well - stay safe everyone.

    Steve Knight

Just heard that Steve Knight died of heart attack last week. Age 56 I think. Halesowen CC rider. Ex National CX Champ. No more info at present.
  12. Thanks all. Still working at it, Ivor πŸ˜„
  13. Ditto. More than warm enough for me after an early excursion this morning, and it's going to be hotter tomorrow. Fingers crossed for Tuesday although possible rain forecast...
  14. Good call, Alan. Might see you somewhere around Himbleton but will probably do non-stop. Don't forget Banks Green and Copyholt Lane have been chipped as well.
  15. I cannot tell a lie, I was wearing a red top, it must have been me. Just after midday, I turned right from Inkberrow towards Flyford.
  16. I went out at 11.00 and was back at 13.00 having done 30 miles. Damp roads early on, then dry, then proper rain started just as I pulled onto the drive. Nearest I got to the Evesham road was Radford.
  17. "Well, I don’t think the wind was all that bad, but it did change direction while we were in the cafe." Depends on which direction you're coming from, John πŸ˜„
  18. Well done you three (and Bev) I started out intending to meet up, but had underestimated both the wind and the windchill. I eventually turned round near Inkberrow having realised I should have donned overshoes and thicker gloves; didn't get any warmer on the way back! Tuesday doesn't look any warmer either!
  19. Went out after the frost had gone from the car. Lovely day although, as no doubt as everyone else discovered, a bit chilly and a stiff NE breeze. Met Chris Poole on way back and had time for a brief exchange before I turned off for home.
  20. Sorry to hear that. I think he was mentioned at last week's luncheon as being ill. RIP Ted and condolences to his family.
  21. I went out at 12, did loop round Bishampton. Saw DaveM in North Piddle Lane, shouted but don't know if he recognised me, especially as I was in company of Dave Hughes in Beacon jersey. DH had caught me at top of lane and I managed to raise my pace to stay with him until our ways parted at Bishampton turn, when I resumed a more leisurely pace πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« shame I didn't bump into the rest of you on way back. Looks a bit chilly this coming week πŸ₯Ά
  22. Too cold for me, especially early on. Gritters out tonight as well. Take care.
  23. Went out this morning. Roads dry and not too cold, but easterly wind was not easy. More cloud and more windchill expected tomorrow, I think I chose the best day 😊
  24. Some of you know about Nick already, and a few more will know him, as I do, as both a friend and a past racing rival. This link says it all https://www.gofundme.com/f/nick-selibas-electric-wheelchair Go Fund Him πŸ‘
